Career benefits for Electrical Engineer by getting trained in PLC SCADA System

Electrical power demand for utilities is increasing day by day. It is necessary to have most economical and optimised systems at all levels of power generation & distribution system.

Use of SCADA in power system distribution can achieve desired economy and safety. There is a great scope to improve existing old distribution systems through Industrial Automation. By Automation utilities can meet the challenges of integrating power supply sources such as Solar, Wind, other renewable & non-conventional methods.

PLC SCADA systems are the most cost-effective smart solutions for improving reliability, utilization and smart visualisation methods.

Working of SCADA Systems

A SCADA system is basically a PC-based software package. Data is collected from various electrical distribution systems, majority of the data originates at substations. A substation may be small, medium or large in size. Similarly every substation will have a varying number of controllers and operator interface points. Data is input for these controllers & operator interfaces. In a typical configuration, a substation is controlled and monitored in real time by a combination of PLC SCADA System  and by certain devices such as circuit breakers, power monitors etc. Conditioned data from the PLC and the devices is to a PC-based SCADA node located at the substation. More no of PCs are positioned at various monitoring stations are via Ethernet-based systems. Other than data collection, SCADA systems allow commands to be issued from central control and monitoring points to substations as per the desired controlling need.

Even though automation has deep penetration into industries, still there is a long way to go. Many utilities are dependent on manual labour that can easily be automated with SCADA systems. In addition it can cut costs, automation facilitates smoother operations while minimizing downtime. Today SCADA systems come with redundancy and backup systems which provide reliability, and are much faster- and consistent than manual system s.

SCADA systems functionality is much more than data collection. They also deliver automated control, benefitting utilities. SCADA Systems has feature of alarms & events. Alarms detect problems in the system, which enables adjustments and corrections in the system resulting in prevention of an outage. In case of an outage caused by a storm, SCADA system’s advanced data collection capabilities help engineers/field workers identify the exact place/ location of the outage.  Through PLC SCADA system power restoration following an outage is much easier & faster. SCADA-enabled switches help operators isolate the outage, reroute power quickly to unaffected sections, without lengthy visual inspection at site.

Benefits of PLC SCADA systems for Electrical Distribution:
• Reliability of the system increases
• Need for lengthy Manual data collection is eliminated
• Alarms systems enable operators to quickly diagnose and fix problems
• PLC Scada systems minimise human intervention, thereby more safety.
• Trending analysis enhance capabilities to detect future problems
• Historians provides the ability to view data in various ways improving overall efficiency.

WHY A SEMICONDUCTOR FABICATION IS VITAL FOR INDIA

(Why Demand for Embedded system training, VLSI Training, AVR Programming, Micro controller training, Embedded programming, System Verilog FPGA VHDL training) is increasing

Semiconductor Import currently is around $8 billion per year for semiconductors, and is increasing at the rate of 22%. By 2020, our semiconductor requirement is going to touch $50-70 billion.

Security in sourcing: Our dependence is significant in imports from China, Taiwan, Japan, US and other countries. This exposes us to disruptions in supply due to trade disputes, disasters etc.

Self-reliance: We have consumed approx $7 billion of semiconductors in 2012. It very much possible to cater this demand through local production.

Security and protection of critical information: Design and chip specification plan and security standards and policies specially for military and government applications which demands highest level of security.

Energy/electricity reduction: semiconductor use cuts down power consumption to a significant level while reducing energy usage of semiconductor-powered devices

Alternative source of energy: Solar photo-voltaic cell, solar powered LED lanterns, smart grid technology

Scientific innovation: Increase patent and publication per research $ invested more commercialization opportunities

Developing Infrastructure: Semiconductor ecosystem development as well as infrastructure improvement result in other businesses to grow.

Chip Manufacturing is going to transform electronics industry

Govt has already approved 02 semiconductor fabrication plants, One in Greater Noida (UP) Another in Anand Gujarat. The total projected investment in both the plants is estimated to 70,000 crores. A consortium of Jaypee Group in association with IBM and one of the technology partners from Singapore are establishing a chip manufacturing unit in Greater Noida. Similarly Hindustan Semiconductors Ltd, ST Micro Electronics Ltd are establishing unit at Anand Gujarat. Electronics manufacturing is going to generate 30 Million direct and indirect jobs at different levels of competencies by 2020. Electronics manufacturing ecosystem and the electronics industry will directly impact on local production, thereby benefiting economy as a whole and boost Make in India vision.. As per the past estimates semiconductor fabrication contributes almost 25 times the investment made to the GDP. Its cascading effect on the electronics industry is tremendous, and is a stronger multiplier than any other manufacturing industry. Industry think tank says it’s going to be strategic game changer for India and will accelerate the economy ahead by several years.

Currently majority of our electronics consumption is met through imports. We import electronics of almost 100 Billion USD as of now, this is estimated to be almost 400 Billion USD by 2020. Make in India Skill India Digital India, Start up India, Stand up India projects are the right steps for self sustainability. Hardware industry (including ancillaries) and the economy will directly benefit. The semiconductor wafer fabrication has a catalytic impact on downstream and upstream products. This has huge potential for development of the IT/ITES sector.

Fresher Electronics engineers passed out from colleges lack the practical knowledge required by this manufacturing industry. This has created a huge skill gap immediately required by this sector. This sudden development has generated a huge demand for Embedded System Training, Embedded design Engineers, Embedded Systems Engineers, AVR Programming, Micro controller programming, ARM Micro controller training, Embedded programming, practical VLSI design software knowledge, System Verilog Design, FPGA, VHDL training.
India’s semiconductor demand from now to 2020
